Outlays Privacy Policy
Last updated October 27, 2026 · Applies to Outlays 2.0 for iOS and Android.
Outlays is an expense tracking app made by Seventh Software. This policy explains what happens to information you enter in the app and the choices you have.
Records stay on your device
Expenses, amounts, currencies, dates, categories, notes, monthly plans and recurring bill schedules are stored in the app’s local storage on your device. Receipt photos you attach are copied into the app’s local files. Outlays does not require an account and does not send these financial records or photos to Seventh Software’s servers.
The app does not connect to your bank, initiate payments, display advertising or include advertising tracking or a third-party analytics SDK. The demo uses sample records separately from your saved records.
Security and device access
Local records and receipt files use the operating system’s app storage protections. Outlays does not add its own app passcode or separately encrypt exported files. Protect your device with a screen lock, keep its software updated, and choose secure destinations when exporting records. Device and cloud backups are controlled by your operating system and the services you select.
Camera and photo access are optional
You can choose to take a receipt photo or select one using your device’s photo picker. Camera access is requested when you choose to take a photo. You can decline access or change permissions in your device settings. Outlays does not request microphone access to record audio.
Files, exports and sharing
You can choose a CSV or JSON file to import. The app reads the selected file locally. CSV exports contain expense records; JSON backups also contain plans, categories and recurring bill schedules. These exports do not include receipt photos.
When you export records, the operating system’s share sheet lets you choose where to save or send the file. If you select a cloud drive, email service or another app, that destination receives the file under its own privacy policy. Outlays does not choose a recipient or automatically upload your records.
Retention, upgrades and backups
Your records remain on your device until you remove them or uninstall the app. During the iOS upgrade from Outlays 1.x, the app reads a copy of the previous local database and imports its records. The original database is retained locally as an upgrade safeguard; deleting an imported entry from the new journal does not erase this retained original copy.
Your device’s backup settings may include app data. Uninstalling the app removes its local data, but separately exported files and operating system or cloud backups may remain. Manage those copies using the service or device settings where they are stored. Keep a backup before changing devices or uninstalling Outlays.
App stores and support
Apple and Google process downloads, payments and any diagnostics you choose to share with them under their own policies. Their app store services operate separately from the local expense records in Outlays.
If you contact Seventh Software, we receive the contact details and message you choose to send. Do not include financial records or receipt photos unless you want to share them for support. Support correspondence is retained as long as needed to handle the request and meet legitimate support or legal obligations. You can ask about access, correction or deletion of support correspondence at support@seventh.dev. The Outlays website is separate from the mobile app; its analytics practices are described in the website analytics notice.
Your choices
You can edit or remove journal entries, export your records, remove receipt attachments from entries, decline optional permissions and uninstall the app. Detached receipt files may remain in the app’s local storage until the app is uninstalled. There is no Outlays account to delete.
Contact and changes
Questions about this policy can be sent to support@seventh.dev or through Seventh Software’s contact page. We will update this page if the app’s handling of information changes.
